What I Spent My Weekend Doing...
That's right, I read Harry Potter. Finished it. This way, no one can accidentally ruin it for me. For those of you who have not finished, I will not ruin the ending for you.
But, before my book arrived, the Mac returned, alas, it was only for a short time.
So, I arrived home from work Friday, my Mac sitting in a box waiting for me, opened it, read the Apple Care thing that came back with it...they looked at it, didn't do what we said it did (which we expected because it doesn't randomly restart all the time...which is why it's RANDOM) and they didn't do a GOSH DARNED thing about it. Okay, I said to myself, I'll just record every time I close it with my camera and catch it in the act.
I was happy to have it back anyway, and removed it from the box and plastic and found this:
Yeah, that's (in the upper left) sticky, stucky, gooey, leftover sicker stuck to MY MAC!! Not the condition I sent it in. Not to mention the random dirty fingerprints, and stray food spot.
I was LIVID. I take VERY good care of my things, especially the things that cost a lot of money, like my computers and my car, and to have them return it in a very different state then what I sent it...well, this was unacceptable (it certainly didn't help that I was hungry). I put it in it's sleeve, leave it in there all day, take it out, use it, and it goes right back in. It has only traveled to Maine with me, and even then, it stayed in it's sleeve most of the time!! I mean, this wasn't easily removable tape, it left gooey icky residue!!
Ed wasn't happy either, especially since they had called him while they looked at it, opened it a couple times, nothing happened said they'd look at it, and got an email right after that that it was coming back.
There is a silver lining though. Ed took it to the Apple Store that opened in Holyoke yesterday. They were quite dismayed at the way it was returned, and even though they may just be humoring him (we both get that), they are replacing some parts. So, it should be back in a few days, and hopefully all better. They even showed Ed the special film they put over the stuff they are working on. Clearly, the "Apple Authorized" repair place we sent it to in Tennessee (per Apple) didn't really care.
So, my faith has almost been restored in Apple because of the Apple Store. Ed's has been completely restored, but I'm more of a skeptic than he.
If you are looking to buy a Mac, I suggest visiting the store (as they were quite kind to Ed), and if you have any problems, GO TO THE STORE....don't send it away. :(
