Mmm

Mmm...Boston
So, a little known fact about me...I love the Phantom Gourmet! It's a tv show about restaurants in the Boston area. For some reason, I just LOVE it (okay, maybe a slight obsession...my Saturday just isn't right, if I'm not watching the Phantom). They had a BBQ Beach Party at Boston's City Hall Plaza, so Ed and I took a day trip.
Yes, there was BBQ. BBQ from all over the country. So much BBQ, we didn't even get to try it all.
And a ferris wheel...THAT was a little scary...oh, and sand too. And strange women in purple shirts dancing and singing along to "Dirty Water." Yeah, that's them to the left of me.
Anyway, we sampled some beef brisket from Cowbowy's BBQ & Rib Co. By far my favorite of the entire day!! We also had a bit from Jack's Down Home BBQ and Fatdaddy's House of Bones. The line for FatDaddy's was REALLY long...and the food wasn't as good as I had hoped, but still not bad.
We also sampled some Boston food. Pizza from Sal's....now this slice was huge, it's actually one slice cut into two.It was alright, but considering they often talk about it on the Phantom, I was expecting a little more. And since I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, I know these things! :) That's alright though, the Dynamite Stick from Wholly Cannoli totally made up for it!
The ice cream filled cupcakes from Trani were a sad ending to the day...it was completely melted, and we were pretty disappointed.
Oh, this was my favorite part of the sand sculpture....Barbie the pig :)
Now, no trip is complete without a trip to the yarn store. We stopped at Windsor Button on our way over to City Hall Plaza (and on the way back).
Trip yarn doesn't count, so I made a purchase.
It's Claudia Hand Paint Sock Yarn in the John B colorway, and I have plans for it.
I had a great relaxing weekend. The weather was beautiful...I only got a little burnt (yes, I know better), and I barely thought about work. I can't wait until July when we have absolutely nothing planned for the weekends (well, not exactly, but we're still pretending we don't know about the retirement party at the end of July).
Here's a pretty picture of my Dad's fucshia's on the front porch (Ed's favorite spot).
Oh yeah, I barely did any knitting this weekend, so I have a lot of catching up to do!

I was a little let down by Windsor Button but now that I think of it they have a good selection of stuff we don't have. I think I judged them harshly because the store itself is wicked ugly. Dusty and musty and just...hard to shop!

I love it when the Phantom goes to a place I've been to. I'd watch more often if Costa wasn't such a sleezebag.

Ok. Fat daddys BBQ wasn't bad... its that i asked for a beef brisket sandwich and i'm pretty sure they gave us pulled pork. And it was good, but not what i wanted. I think the bread part of the sandwich was there for show.

Um, jealous! When we lived in Boston, watching the Phantom every weekend was like a holy ritual. The food festival always happens right around my birthday, too, but I haven't gotten to go yet.
