The Unofficial Start of Summer...and the Wall of Shame...
Memorial Day already...I can't believe it. I also can't believe that it's 8:30 and still fairly light out. I can remember being little this time of year and thinking how can I go to bed now? It's still light out!
We had a very nice relaxing weekend. I took Friday off, so I had and extra long weekend. It gave me time to work on my projects and do a bit of pondering about my future projects...more on that later.
Saturday we, like many others, ended up in Cummington at MA Sheep a
nd Wool. We had Chelsea with us so we didn't get to stay as long as I wanted, but I think that was a good thing for my wallet, and my family is very impressed with my sheep impression. I'll tell you though...some of them did not look so happy to be naked! I only came away with one skein of yarn...a 500 yard skein of cashmere from Just Our Yarn, in a lovely pinkish color, of course.
We took Chelsea to Panera for lunch and then dropped her off...visited for a while and headed home to the mail.
My latest order from The Loopy Ewe had arrived and it held some fabulous goodies!
Some sKNITches in Plum Pudding...lavender, dusty blue and yellow.
Some GypsyKnits "poor knitters cashmere" in Happy Tap...pinks, whites, and grays.
Fleece Artist Merino 2/6 in Fruit Punch...lime and hot pink. I'm pretty excited about this one. I've heard mixed reviews and I'm excited to try it myself.
And last, but not least, some Louet Gems in Cherry Red. This will be turned into a gift that needs to be finished fairly soon, so I'd better get on that!
Speaking of finishing....I'm almost there with the Beachcomber Tunic. I was hoping to finish the crochet today, but the hands are starting to cramp up a bit. Just 3 more pattern repeats to go though and I'm done with it...except for the finishing. I'm really excited to be almost done, and there will be pictures as soon as it's there.
As for my big ideas and plans for the Summer. It's going to be a lot of sock knitting, and A LOT of finishing the unfinished. I just can't stand the pile of unfinished items. So, in the next few days I plan to add them all to my WIPs section to embarrass and guilt myself into finishing them...it has just gotten out of hand. In fact, I think I'll make a new section...what to title it though....Wall of Shame works for me for now!
Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend and Memorial Day like I did, and took time to think about those who have lost their lives, because even though I may not agree with what is going on, it is important to remember those who have lost their lives for our country, in the past, and present.
By the way...it's dark now...I'd better go check on Ed, who had been computer-ing on the front porch all afternoon and into the evening. I hope he wasn't eaten by a giant mosquito, or this bear who was wandering around the high school, behind our house, today!
